Biography
2012-13: Finished second in the first meet of the season against Denison in the 100-yard breast stroke...Added two more fifth-place finishes later in the season, both in the 200-yard breast stroke...Recorded season-best times of 1:06.42 in the 100-yard breast and 2:22.39 in the 200-yard breast at the Zippy Invite.
2011-12: Tallied two top-five finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke...Finished third at Denison and fifth against Eastern Michigan...Also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke, 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard freestyle events...Recorded season best times in both breaststroke events against Ohio State (1:01.51 and 2:29.37)...Season-best time of 5:20.63 in the 500 Free and 11:24.93 in the 1,000 Free...Swam in the 400-yard freestyle relay at Ball State...Earned Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention.
2010-11: Had two top-five finishes in 1000 Free and 200 Breast...Placed fourth in the 200 Breast versus Ohio with time of 2:29.17.
Personal: Born Kayla Elizabeth Wiemers on May 13, 1992... Daughter of Jeff and Laura Wiemers... Has one brother, Ryan... Enjoys music, water polo and boating... Majoring in early childhood education.
High School: Qualified twice for the state meet in the 100 breaststroke and 500 free...Was named All-American, All-Ohio, and All-Conference multiple times.
