Igor Kolaric enters his second season as the graduate assistant coach for the University of Toledo men’s tennis program in 2022-23.

In his first season on staff, Kolaric helped Toledo achieved a record of 15-9 (7-3 MAC) record and reach the finals of the Mid-American Conference tournament. The Rockets also finished second in the regular season, and collected numerous postseason accolades. Pawit Sornlaksup was named Player of the Year, Marko Galic and Sornlaksup were named to the All-Tournament Team, three Rocketss earned All-MAC honors,and Cole Shoults was named the league’s Jack Verdevelt Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Toledo was ranked No. 9 n the 2022 ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Men’s Great Lakes Regional Rankings, following the 2021-22 season. Additionally, Sornlaksup was ranked No. 17 in singles, and Sornlaksup and Galic were ranked No. 8 in doubles.

A native of Birkenfeld, Germany, Kolaric was a star player for Illinois State and Hawaii. During his two seasons at ISU, Kolaric led the Redbirds with a 32-18 singles record and 19-13 doubles record, mainly playing at the No.1 position. He received Summit League Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and all-conference honors in 2018 and was an all-conference and all-academic honoree in 2019. Kolaric played for one year for the Rainbow Warriors at Hawaii.

At one point in his playing career, Kolaric was ranked No. 2 for players under 18, No.10 overall in Germany, as well as No. 1,639 in the world. He played for the Serbian Junior National Team, won one International Tennis Europe singles title and one doubles title. Kolaric played for TC Wolfsberg Club in 2015 and Z. Bundesliga. He was an ITA Oracle Master Participant and his highest UTR was 13.21. Kolaric also was the hitting partner for ATP’s No.26 Filip Krajinovic.

Before coming to Toledo, Kolaric served as the head tennis coach at Bloomington Tennis Center in 2019, and then went on to be the tennis director for two tennis clubs in Germany in 2020.

Kolaric is currently finishing his mater’s degree at Toledo.
