Ryan Chipka enters his second season as assistant coach at the University of Toledo. Chipka returns to Toledo after serving as the Director of Player Development and Scouting at Norfolk State in Norfolk, Va.

While at NSU Chipka served in a multi-faceted role. He oversaw the strength and speed training and nutritional plan for the baseball program. He was also in charge of obtaining and creating all scouting information, monitoring the team's academic progress and other program enhancements such as the Spartan Speaker Series and team's leadership training.

In his first stint with the Rockets in 2016 Chipka coached the team's outfielders and coached first base during games. The Rockets won 9 out of their last 10 games in the regular season to advance to the conference tournament for the seventh time in the last eight years. Chipka has also been active in the summer camp circuit working camps at some of the top programs in the country including Vanderbilt University, Auburn University, University of Virginia, Mississippi State University, and Notre Dame.

The Waterville, OH native returned home in 2016 after the spending the previous two years at the helm of the Rochester baseball program. During his time as the skipper at his alma mater, Chipka led the team to back-to-back USCAA Small College World Series'. The Warriors were ranked in the Top 10 of the country for much of the 2015 season. Rochester earned victories over NCAA Division II member Northwood University and swept the eventual seven seed of the World Series event. Rochester earned a win in the World Series over Penn State - Beaver, before being eliminated by St. Joseph's College.

As a player, Chipka had an excellent collegiate career for the Warriors. As the only four-time captain in program history, he helped lead the program to back-to-back USCAA Small College World Series appearances, including a program-best third-place finish in 2012. Chipka was named an All-American on the field to go along with being named a three-time Academic All-American, and he currently the holds the school record in hits, assists, and consecutive starts his senior season.

In addition to coaching the baseball team at Rochester College, he served as the school's sports information director. Prior to entering collegiate coaching, Chipka was a baseball instructor at the Varsity Shop Training Center and was an Associate Scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
