This Hall of Fame Inductee has been called by his Coach, Dick Wilson, who incidentally was a three-time Olympian himself "probably the greatest individual athlete ever to attend The University of Toledo." He is wrestling star of 1969, 1970, and 1971, Greg Wojchiechowski. As a sophomore, Greg, whom hereafter we shall refer to as Wojo, won 18 of 19 matches, losing only in the NCAA tournament to the National Champion. Greg was runner-up, he won the National AAU Heavyweight title in both freestyle and Greco-roman and finished fourth in the world wrestling championships in Canada. As a junior, Wojo became UT's second NCAA heavyweight champion and won the National AAU title as well. He concluded the year with a two-year record of 41-1 in intercollegiate competition and included 18 pins. In the matches he didn't score pins, he outscored his opponenents 94 to 15. as a senior, Wojo won 14 of 15 matches, losing only in the NCAA championship match, he finished his intercollegiate career with a record of 55 wins and only 2 defeats. Needless to say, Greg also won three straight MAC Heavyweight Titles. Since graduation, Wojo has continued to compete in international wrestling. He has represented the United States several times in the World Cup Tournament, both here in Toledo and abroad. Now he is a teacher and a coach and still active in world wrestling circles.
