Post-Game Notes
  • Toledo extended its lead in its series vs. CMU to 23-18-3 with its sixth straight victory over the Chippewas.
  • Toledo is now 10-12-1 in games played in Mount Pleasant.
  • UT holds a 37-9 record in MAC games since 2010.
  • Head Coach Matt Campbell’s record as the Rockets’ head coach is now 34-14 and 4-0 vs. Central Michigan.
  • The Rockets didn’t commit a turnover in the contest, marking the first time UT has done so since its season-opening victory over Arkansas.
  • Senior quarterback Phillip Ely topped the 300-yard passing mark for the fourth time this season and the fifth occasion in his Rocket career.  He finished the evening with 322 yards passing, completing 23 of 39 passes with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
  • Junior RB Kareem Hunt gained 113 yards on 20 carries for his 18th 100-yard game of his Rocket career, tying him with Wasean Tait (1993-98) for second place on UT’s all-time list. Hunt registered a 41-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for his longest run from scrimmage this season.
  • Hunt is the sixth Rocket to top the 3,000-yard career rushing mark and now has 3,109 yards on the ground to rank sixth in UT history. He is 10 yards behind No. 5 Jalen Parmelee (2004-07) who has 3,119 yards.
  • Senior WR Alonzo Russell has now caught at least one pass in 47 straight games, just two behind UT’s all-time leader Steve Odom (2003-06).  Russell totaled four catches for a team-high 86 yards in the contest, including a 51-yard reception in the third quarter for his longest catch of the season.
  • Senior WR Kishon Wilcher caught a career-high four passes for 41 yards in his first career start for the Rockets. He replaced junior Corey Jones, who saw his streak of 21 consecutive starts end this evening.
  • Freshman WR Diontae Johnson recorded season highs for receptions (3) and reception yardage (63). He also scored his second touchdown of the season on a 36-yard reception early in the second quarter.
  • Senior CB Cheatham Norrills picked off his first pass of the season and fourth of his career to end the Chippewas’ final drive.
