Carson McCaleb tallies four hits on the day
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Toledo baseball team dropped a two-run affair, 4-2, to Oakland to open the week on Tuesday at the Oakland Baseball Field.
Â
The Rockets (15-16) fell behind, 3-0, after the first inning, but clawed to within 3-2 in the fifth. However, Toledo couldn't score any more runs, and the Golden Grizzlies tacked on the final run of the game. Toledo out-hit the Golden Grizzlies, 10-5, but didn't take advantage and saw its winning streak end at three with the defeat.
Â
Carson McCaleb totaled four singles, his second four-hit game of the season (Northern Kentucky, March 10). Charlie Scholvin also notched a multi-hit outing, hitting 2-for-3. Troy Sudbrook and JP Wagner each tallied RBIs.
Â
Starter John Hojnowski (0-2) went four innings, allowing three runs, but took the loss. Arturo Ormaza held Oakland to one run and one hit over three innings. Nate Langbehn tallied a scoreless frame in the eighth inning.

Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle
"I guess we used up all of our offense and energy in the sweep of EMU this past weekend. Today we just couldn't get anything going on offense. Just when we were in position to strike and get back into the game with some good at-bats, we'd have some bad ones and crush the momentum. We need to get off this roller coaster of win some, lose some and reel off a bunch of wins. We're back at it tomorrow and we'll see if we can get a good feeling heading into a pivotal MAC weekend."
