Troy Sudbrook and Charlie Scholvin each collect two hits
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team was held off by Miami in its MAC weekend series opener, falling to the RedHawks, 7-2, at Scott Park on Friday.

The Rockets (16-21, 12-7 MAC) took leads of 1-0 and 2-1 early and led after three innings. From there, the RedHawks (24-12, 13-6 MAC) scored in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead and added two more for a 5-2 edge in the seventh. Miami held off Toledo chances to score in the sixth and eighth innings before scoring two more in the ninth. The defeat snapped Toledo's six-game winning streak in MAC series openers.

Redshirt junior Troy Sudbrook and junior Charlie Scholvin tallied multi-hit games. Friday was Scholvin's 18th multi-hit game of the season and Sudbrook's 16th. Scholvin had an RBI double in the third inning, while Sudbrook scored a run.

Senior Nathan Leininger delivered another quality start, allowing just three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in six innings pitched. He stranded nine Miami runners on base through his six frames. Leininger was tagged with his first loss of the season (7-1), snapping a stretch of seven-straight starts as the winning pitcher.

- Two singles and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases in the first, but Nathan Leininger came back for a strikeout to keep Miami off the board.
