Matias Olivero wins fourth singles contest in his last five matches
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team fell in its Mid-American Conference season opening match to Ball State, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
The Rockets started off strong, picking up the doubles point after posting 6-2 wins on both the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Doubles duo Cole Cozens and Charlie Snow improved to 5-4 this season on the No. 1 doubles court with their win over the Cardinals.
In singles play, Ball State responded by winning five of six courts to take the match victory. Matias Olivero posted the lone singles win for the Rockets with a straight set win on the No. 5 court, his fourth singles victory in his last five matches. Hanamichi Carvajal competed in his first singles contest of the season, forcing a decisive third set on the No. 2 court.
