Rockets tally first conference series win of the season after splitting Sunday’s doubleheader
The Toledo offense exploded for 11 hits in game two, the third time this season with double-figure hits. Audrey Miller and Jenna Gober both posted perfect games at the plate. Miller went 2-for-2 and blasting her fifth homer of the season and knocking in four runs, while Gober went 3-for-3 with two doubles. Katie McDonald earned her fourth win of the season in the second game. The junior tossed her third complete game of the season, allowing five earned runs and striking out five batters.
In game one, Miller and Payton Pudlowski led the offense as they each tallied a multi-hit game and drove in a run. Samantha Bolding fired off her fifth home run of the season while freshman Olivia Signorino earned the start in the circle. The Bobcats plated runs in each of the first four innings, taking a 7-2 lead in the fourth frame and the Rockets were unable to catch up.
Quoting Head Coach Jessica Bracamonte
"Taking the first series of conference play from a really good team is huge. Really proud of our offense and the performance out of Katie (McDonald) in the circle to put us in a position to get the series win. We could've hung our heads after game one today, but our team decided to compete and bounce back, which is the fortitude we challenge them to have every day. Couldn't be more proud of the grit they showed this weekend."
