Anastasia Akuginova and Annika Munson pick up singles victories for the Rockets
CHICAGO – The Toledo women's tennis team dropped a close match against DePaul in Chicago on Friday afternoon, 5-2.
The Blue Demons picked up the doubles point after grabbing victories on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Jone Ibanez and Gaby Rondon held a 5-1 lead on the No. 2 court before the match went unfinished.
In singles play, Anastasia Akuginova recorded the Rockets' first point as she posted her third singles win of the season with a 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) decision on the No. 6 court. DePaul earned wins on the No. 4, 2 and 1 to clinch the victory.
Ibanez, JJ Scholten and Annika Munson all forced decisive third sets on their courts throughout the match. Munson was able to win the second and third sets to pick up UT's second and final point of the day with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory on the No. 5 court for her third singles victory of the dual season.

"Credit to DePaul. They came out with high intensity and competed well. We battled like we always do but we were in too big of a hole to get out of. This is one of those matches we will look back on as a motivator."
