Toledo Earns 9-3 Win Over Longwood

Rockets fall to No. 24 Virginia after defeating Lancers
FARMVILLE, Va. – The Toledo softball team scored eight runs in the seventh inning to earn its first win of the season over Longwood, 9-3. UT then fell to No. 24/25 Virginia in the final game of the day, 8-0.
In the win over the Lancers, UT tallied a season-high eight RBIs. Samantha Bolding and Eli Enriquez led the squad with two each. Enriquez also recorded her fourth-straight multi-hit game of the season. Katie McDonald earned the start, tossing 6.1 innings and giving up just one run. Mady Yackee appeared in relief, throwing 0.2 innings and giving up one hit to close the door on the Lancers.
The Rockets broke a 1-1 tie by plating a season-best eight runs in the top of the seventh to earn the victory over Longwood. The eight runs scored in an inning were UT's most since scoring eight against Ball State last March.
Against Virginia, Audrey Miller recorded two hits to lead the team and tally her second multi-hit game of the day and fourth of the season. Eliza Maloney chipped in a hit in both contests, while redshirt freshman Reese Poston registered her second start of the season in the circle.
