Rockets earn 13 top-10 finishes in third meet of the indoor season
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Graduate student Margrett Watt recorded the sixth-best 1000m time in program history as the Toledo women's track & field team wrapped up another indoor meet at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Saturday.
Watt crossed the finish line at 2:56.78 to cement herself in the Toledo indoor top-10 list and placed sixth overall in the event.
Freshman Sydney Stepanovich qualified for the 60m finals by posting a 7.86 time in the prelims and took fifth overall in the event with a final time of 7.89. Stepanovich also earned a sixth-place finish in the 200m (25.76).
Lianna Surtz led the Rockets in the mile, taking sixth (4:45.92) while Alex Bauer followed in seventh with a personal best time (4:46.09). Freshman Harper Brighty recorded a sixth-place finish in the 800m (2:14.04) as distance events concluded with the 3000m where Gabby Phelan placed second (9:42.09) and Bella Earl took third (9:52.95).
In field events, Eva Moran earned a fourth-place finish in the pole vault with a final mark of 3.45m.
A handful of men's distance runners also competed at the Notre Dame Invitational. Max Matolin tallied a second-place finish in the 3000m (8:23.07) while Joad Martinho (Seventh/4:08.49) and Loann Brelivet (10th/4:10.47) earn top-ten finishes in the mile.
