TOLEDO, Ohio – Head Coach Jessica Bracamonte announced the hiring of Staci Chambers as the pitching coach for the Toledo softball program on Wednesday.

"We are incredibly excited to have Staci join Team Toledo as our new pitching coach," said Bracamonte. "I am overwhelmingly encouraged by the value I know she will add to our staff and the experience of our student-athletes. She is a young, passionate, and eager coach who has competed at the highest level and knows what it takes to be the best on and off the field. Her ability to understand and connect with our pitching staff and team as a recent Division I student-athlete in the climate of collegiate athletics today is invaluable. Her positive, competitive, go-getter energy is contagious and will be a great addition to our program.

"Throughout the interview and hiring process, I've continued to be impressed with her level of knowledge around pitching and the game itself. The emphasis she places on the mental component of what it takes to compete and be elite is going to go a long way in the circle for our pitching staff. Toledo is a special place, and I am so excited that Coach Staci will begin her coaching career with us here in the Glass City as a Rocket!"

Chambers comes to Toledo after a five-year playing career at Cal State Fullerton (2020-24) and Oregon (2024-25). At Cal State Fullerton, Chambers won two Big West Conference Championships and was named to the Big West All-First Team in 2024. While at Oregon, she was a member of the 2025 Big Ten Champion squad and made a run to the Women's College World Series. She has also coached travel and club softball with Breakers Lab, the team she grew up playing for.

"I am thrilled to join the University of Toledo softball coaching staff," said Chambers. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Rocket family and look forward to bringing my energy, passion, and commitment to help our student-athletes succeed both on and off the field."

At Cal State Fullerton, Chambers had a career ERA of 2.87 through 219.1 innings of work. She struck out 189 batters and held her opponents to a .245 batting average. She also threw a no-hitter on Feb. 11, 2024 against Colorado State, pitching 7.0 innings and striking out eight in the process. At Oregon, she held a 3.91 ERA and earned a 3-0 record, including one save. Chambers threw 4.1 scoreless innings in the NCAA Regional Championship game against Stanford and got the win against Liberty in the NCAA Super Regionals.

A native of El Cajon, Calif., Chambers earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Cal State Fullerton and a master's degree in prevention sciences.

What They're Saying About Staci Chambers
"Staci played a key role for our team both on and off the field. She is a driven, fierce competitor. She pitched in some of the most intense situations for us in the postseason as we won the NCAA Regional and Super Regional. We would not have advanced to the Women's College World Series without her clutch performances. As the senior member of our pitching staff, Staci set the tone both by her presence on the mound, and also by mentoring our younger pitchers. She brought a positive attitude to our locker room and always had a smile on her face. I'm so excited to see Staci moving into a coaching position. Toledo is adding a real high-quality individual to their staff who has all the intangibles to make her a great leader of young women."
  • Melyssa Lombardi, University of Oregon Softball Head Coach

"Coach Chambers will be a fantastic addition to the Toledo staff. She was always like having another coach out on the field. Staci studied the game like a student, studying video footage, stats and just finding an edge anyway possible. She is elite at her craft and no doubt ready to share that knowledge and elevate Toledo Softball. She's a workhorse and is really going to be exceptional in particular scouting opponents, and not just telling the pitchers what pitch to throw, but teaching them the craft of scouting themselves and coming up with a game plan based on their strengths and attacking the opponents weakness. Staci was a blast to coach - a fierce competitor, team first mentality and elite character. I am excited that she is going in to coaching and she will make a positive impact on the players, staff and athletic department. What a huge recruit for Coach Bracamonte."
