TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo women's tennis head coach Tracy Mauntler announced the hiring of former Rocket great Cassie Alcala as an assistant coach on Wednesday.

"I'm incredibly excited to return to Toledo as an assistant coach," said Alcala. "Having played for this program from 2020 to 2024, I know the culture, work ethic, and passion that define this team. It's an honor to give back to a program that shaped so much of who I am, and I'm looking forward to supporting our student-athletes as they grow on and off the court."

Alcala is the Rockets' all-time leader in career wins, amassing 177 victories from 2020-24. She helped the program win two MAC Regular Season Championships alongside its first-ever MAC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Alcala was named the MAC Player of the Year three times (2022, 2023, 2024), was a four-time First Team All-MAC honoree and earned MAC Tournament MVP honors in 2024.

"I am so excited to welcome Cassie back to the program," said Mauntler. "She will be an unbelievable resource to our student-athletes. Cassie's hard work ethic as a player will translate well onto the coaching side. She has so much experience in the MAC and will be able to use that to help our players reach their potential."

Alcala spent the 2024-25 school year as a graduate assistant coach with the women's tennis team at Northern Illinois, helping the Huskies finish runner-up in the MAC.

Alcala earned her bachelor's degree in human resource management from the University of Toledo in 2024 and a Global Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois in 2025.
