TOLEDO, Ohio – Cross country, women's volleyball and football each begin their 2025 seasons this week while women's soccer continues home play at Paul Hotmer Field to wrap up this week in Rocket Athletics.

The men's and women's cross country teams open the 2025 season at the Michigan Open on Friday, Aug. 29 in Dexter, Mich. Both squads captured the 2024 Mid-American Conference crown and are looking to sweep the competition for the second-straight season. The women's team looks to win its fifth-consecutive MAC Championship and returns nine student-athletes from last season's winning squad. The team also welcomes seven newcomers, including three freshmen and four transfers, to the fold. The men's squad boasts six returners and two newcomers, one transfer and one freshmen.

Brian Wright era this weekend with the Rocket Invitational Presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott Toledo at Savage Arena from Friday, Aug. 29-Sunday, Aug. 31. The squad features nine returners, four transfers and four freshmen. The Rockets are set to take on Albany, Saint Francis and Robert Morris in the first action of the season. Football begins the 2025 season against SEC foe Kentucky on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. Toledo looks for back-to-back seasons with a victory against the SEC, with a victory over Mississippi State last season. The Rockets will also go for a third victory against "Power Four" conference opponents in two seasons (Miss. St., Pitt). Toledo was picked to win the MAC in the preseason coaches' poll. The Rockets return several key pieces to the 2025 roster, including four All-MAC selections.
