TOLEDO, Ohio – The No. 3 seed Toledo women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 2-seeded Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference Championship Tournament semifinal action at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.

The Rockets finished the season with a 14-7 overall record and made their fourth-consecutive appearance in the MAC Tournament.

Junior Audrey Moutama picked up the lone point for the Rockets, a 7-5, 6-3 win over Northern Illinois' Maria Dzemeshkevich on the No. 1 singles court.

Moutama and Gabby Rondon kicked off doubles play with a 6-1 win on the No. 2 court before the Huskies (22-6) picked up a victory on the No. 3 set, 6-3. The doubles point came down to a tiebreaker on the No. 1 court where Northern Illinois grabbed the 7-6 (7-4) win.

The Huskies recorded straight set wins on the No. 4 and No. 5 singles courts, respectively, to take a 3-0 lead.

Moutama's victory cut the margin to 3-1 but NIU clinched the match in a three-setter on the No. 3 singles court. Catherine Rhegness had just forced a decisive third set on the No. 6 court while JJ Scholten was a game away from winning her second set on the No. 2 court when the match concluded.

NIU will face No. 4 seed Buffalo for the MAC Championship title at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts.
