Toledo Travels to Wright State, Plays Ohio In Home Opener Series

Rockets' home opener will be Friday, March 21 at Scott Park
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team will play four games again this week, taking on Wright State on Tuesday, March 18, before opening its home season versus Ohio in a weekend series March 21-23 at Scott Park. First pitch against the Raiders will be 3:00 p.m., with the Ohio games airing on ESPN+, beginning at 3:00 on Friday and 1:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Toledo (6-12, 2-4 MAC) dropped a close game at Michigan on Tuesday and fell on Friday and Saturday at Ball State, before rallying to take the series finale 6-3 on Sunday. Brady Sasse had a strong outing against Michigan, pitching 4.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, only allowing one hit. In the win against Ball State, Nathan Leininger pitched 3.0 scoreless innings with one strikeout and walk, allowing only two hits to pick up his second win of the season. Charlie Scholvin led the Rockets' offense through the week, hitting 7-for-14 with six RBIs, four runs and a home run.

Wright State is 8-9 on the season and won four games last week, beating Kent State and sweeping the weekend series versus Oakland. Toledo last faced Wright State on April 3, 2024, with Wright State winning 8-0.

Ohio sits at ninth place in the MAC at 1-5 and 4-13 overall on the season. Last week, OU beat Morehead State before losing 2-of-3 to Central Michigan over the weekend. The Bobcats will face Dayton on Tuesday in midweek action before the weekend series against the Rockets.
