Rockets look to improve upon seventh-place finish in 2024
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's track and field team will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. to compete in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 28-Saturday, March 1. Action will begin at 10:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
"We are looking forward to a great competition highlighted by the potential for some outstanding individual performances," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Andrea Grove-McDonough. "Ir should be an exciting team competition as well with some very tight margins after the top-three programs. Not much will separate many of us."
The Rockets will be represented in 10 events including the DMR and the 4x400 relay events. The team will look to improve upon its seventh-place finish in the 2024 Indoor Championship.
Senior Laura Nicholson enters the meet with the best time in the MAC in the mile and the 800m. The Cork, Ireland native clocked a school-record 4:30.85 in the mile on Feb. 14 and grabbed a final time of 2:07.99 in the 800m on Jan. 25.
Senior Samantha Thomas will compete in the 400m, an event in which she has broken the program record twice during the indoor season. Thomas will also see action in the 200m event. Redshirt freshman Mercy Kinyanjui will run in the 3000m event after breaking the program record with a time of 9:07.85 on Feb. 1.
In the field, sophomore Jordyn Wright will represent Toledo in the pole vault while senior Sydney Caddell will compete in the long jump.
