Gabby Phelan wins the mile in first indoor action of the season
ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Toledo women's track and field team competed in its first indoor meet of the 2025-26 season at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. on Friday.Â
Sophomore Gabby Phelan won the mile invite race with a time of 4:57.03. She beat out competitors from Illinois-Chicago and Oakland en route to her victory.
In total, nine individual Rockets finished in the top 10 in their events. The 4x400 relay team of Alissa Magato, Noelle Hunt, Rylee McKitrick and Maley Roberts also finished within the top-10, placing fifth with a time of 4:01.73.
Freshmen Noelle Hunt and Eva Moran made their Toledo debuts on Friday, each placing in the top five in their respective events. Hunt finished second in the long jump with a 5.64m jump while Moran finished fifth in the pole vault with a 3.57m vault.
Three Rockets finished in the top 10 across the two 5000m heats. Junior Lianna Surtz placed seventh in heat one with a time of 16:37.42. Ole Miss grad transfer Hannah Ielfield finished ninth in heat one in her Toledo track debut with a time of 16:51.42. Junior Bailey Ranta finished ninth in heat two with a time of 17:07.71.
Graduate student Margrett Watt, senior Cadence Christie and sophomore Alissa Magato round out the Toledo runners in the top-10. Watt finished fourth in the 3000m race with a time of 9:58.59. Christie finished seventh in the 800m event with a time of 2:12.18. Magato finished 10th in the 400m, clocking a time of 59.00.
