Grace Freiberger Named MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo sophomore Grace Freiberger was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Freiberger earned the honor after helping lead Toledo women's volleyball to its first ever MAC Championship. The sophomore libero totaled 82 digs throughout three matches, averaging 5.86 digs/set. She also poured in 19 assists, including a career-best 11 helpers in the championship match against Western Michigan, and six service aces throughout the tournament.

Freiberger became the Toledo single season digs leader totaling 620 this season. She also tied her season high with 29 digs in the championship match and earned a spot on the MAC All-Tournament Team.

The Lima, Ohio native owns a 3.909 GPA as a recreational therapy major.

To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, be at a sophomore or higher academic standing and have a worthy performance during the week's competition. One male and one female student-athlete from the conference is selected each week.
