Brian Wright Announces Addition of Andre Medina to Toledo Volleyball Coaching Staff

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo Head Volleyball Coach Brian Wright has announced the addition of Andre Medina as an assistant coach for the 2026 season.Â
Medina brings nearly a decade of coaching experience to Toledo and has established himself as an outstanding teacher of the game and recruiter. The 2026 season will mark his 10th year in coaching. He was previously the head coach at Buchholz (Fla.) High School and the recruiting coordinator with the Gainesville Juniors Volleyball Club.Â
Medina is stepping in for Bethany Lokken, who gave birth to her third child in July.Â
"We're thrilled to welcome Andre to our Rocket Volleyball family," said Wright. "Andre has built an impressive resume at every level he's coached, and what stands out is his passion for the game, the players he coaches and the staffs he works with. His energy is infectious, and he will work every day to be his best for the program and help every player be their best. His experience and passion for coaching will be a tremendous asset to this year's team."
Medina has enjoyed success throughout his coaching career. In 2021, he guided the Gainesville Juniors 11 Elite team to an AAU National Championship. He also served as an assistant coach at The Rock School in Gainesville, where the program captured two national championships during his tenure.
Following his time at The Rock School, Medina spent two seasons as co-head coach at Williston High School in Florida. During his tenure, the Red Devils won two district championships, a regional title and advanced to the state Final Four.Â
In addition to his success on the court, Medina has become highly respected for his work in recruiting and helping student-athletes achieve their goal of competing at the collegiate level. As Recruiting Coordinator for Gainesville Juniors, he has played an integral role in connecting athletes with college programs across the country.
"What drew me to Toledo is the people and the culture," said Medina. "I'm excited to build meaningful relationships with our student-athletes and contribute to a program that values growth, accountability, and competing at the highest level. I'm incredibly grateful to Coach Brian Wright for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to join the Rocket family. It's an honor to be a part of this program, and I can't wait to get to work."
A native of Florida, Medina is married to his wife, Gracie, and the couple shares two dogs, Canelo and Watson.
