Rockets Close Out Fall Season with Zach Barden Memorial Invite

Alejandro Gonzalez and AJ Sidoti both go undefeated for Rockets
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule with the Zach Barden Memorial Invite this past weekend at Launchpad Tennis. Toledo went 28-9 in the 37 matches it competed in. The Rockets played against Holy Cross, Denison, Case Western, Chicago and Eastern Kentucky at the event.
Seven Rockets competed in the draw, including senior Alejandro Gonzalez, who went 6-0, and freshman AJ Sidoti, who went 5-0. Lucas Britez, Hanamichi Carvajal, Cole Cozens, Joshua Mackey and Charlie Snow also competed.
Gonzalez won four doubles matches, teaming up with Carvajal twice to defeat Holy Cross and Chicago. Gonzalez also won doubles matches alongside Sidoti and Cozens.
Sidoti won three doubles matches with three different partners (Gonzalez, Snow and Mackey) and picked up a thrilling three-set singles win over Gopal Koduri from the University of Chicago, 3-6, 6-4,10-7.
Cole Cozens also racked up a five-win performance over the weekend, including a 6-3, 6-1 singles win over Chicago's Jack Wong and a 6-2, 6-4 singles victory over Chicago's Tim Nguyen. Â

"We had questions about our improvement rate, our team consistency and establishment of singles and doubles lineups. We gained a lot from these three days at Launchpad Tennis and the depth of our team is improving fast."
