Rockets Edged 2-1 in Battle of I-75 Matchup at Bowling Green

84th-minute goal stands as the winner on Sunday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Bowling Green with an 84th-minute goal making the difference at Cochrane Soccer Stadium on Sunday.
 
The Rockets (3-5-1, 0-2-0) scored in the second minute and carried a halftime lead, but the Falcons (5-2-1, 2-0-0) claimed victory with two goals in the second half.
 
The Rockets' goal was scored by graduate student Dalaney Ranallo, her second of the season. Ranallo led the Rockets with two shots on the day, both on net. The goal was assisted by senior Grace Turski, who earned her second of the year. Junior goalkeeper Agnes Stenlund made five saves on a .714 save percentage on the afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 2' | After Toledo got an early corner, Dalaney Ranallo scored from the center of the box on a volley to take a 1-0 lead.
  • 27' | The Rockets served a ball into the box that hit a Bowling Green defender's head and went off the post.
  • 48' | The Falcons' attempt from the edge of the 18-yard box was saved, but BGSU's Lexi Czerwien one-timed the rebound to tie the game at 1-1.
  • 52' | Grace Turski intercepted a pass and got a partial breakaway, but the left-footed shot was saved by the Falcons keeper.
  • 84' | A ball served from the right wing was headed into the net from Emma Stransky for the 2-1 lead and eventual game-winner.
GAME NOTES
  • The Rockets scored first for the fifth time this season and held a halftime lead for the second time.
  • The Falcons held a 10-6 edge in shots and led 7-5 in shots on goal. Toledo had the 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Ranallo is now Toledo's third multi-goal scorer this season, joining Alli MacBeth and Gabrielle Anulare.
