Toledo looking to capture third-straight MAC regular-season title
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis program's schedule for the 2024-25 season has been announced by Head Coach Tracy Mauntler on Monday. The Rockets' schedule is highlighted by hosting the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament next April.
"Having the opportunity to host the MAC Tournament again next spring is a huge motivator for our team," said Mauntler, who has been named MAC Coach of the Year the last two seasons. "Having the home-court advantage and playing in front of all of our fans was a tremendous boost for us last year."
UT is looking to win its third-consecutive Mid-American Conference regular-season title with juniors Audrey Moutama and Sanjana Tallamraju expected to lead the way. The Rockets also return sophomores Jone Ibanez and Gaby Rondon and are bringing in a recruiting class that is ranked No. 8 nationally in the Tennis Recruiting Network's Top Women's Mid-Major Recruiting Classes.
Toledo's freshman class includes Pimmama Thongkum (9.92 Universal Tennis Rating), Jacklynka Scholten (9.14 UTR), Neha Guru (8.60 UTR), Annika Munson (8.55 UTR), and Catherine Rhegness (7.96 UTR). Scholten is a five-star recruit, while Guru, Munson, and Rhegness are all four-star players.
"The fall season will be incredibly important to get our freshmen acclimated to our team culture and standard of practice and competition," Mauntler said. "We have some great opportunities in our fall to have them face some tough competition."
Toledo's first competition of the fall season will be when it hosts the Rocket Invite on Sept. 27-28 at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts. A portion of the Rockets' squad will then travel to Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 10-13 for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regionals hosted by Ohio State. UT will then be tested against its conference competition at the MAC Indoors in Oxford, Ohio on Oct. 24-27. Toledo will wrap up its fall with the annual Rocket Indoors event at Twos Athletic Club on Nov. 1-2.

Toledo will be on the road for much of its winter schedule heading into conference play. The Rockets will host Cleveland State (Jan. 31) before playing six matches on the road in February, highlighted by a matchup at West Virginia (Feb. 15). UT will make its final preparations for league action with a trip to Florida that concludes with a match at USF (March 7).
"Our schedule in the winter will give us plenty of non-conference matches to prepare to defend our MAC title," Mauntler said. "That will be much of our team's first taste of what collegiate tennis is all about."
Toledo opens its conference season with a MAC Tournament finals rematch vs. Miami on March 16. UT will also host Bowling Green (March 23), Eastern Michigan (April 4), Ball State (April 13), and Buffalo (April 18). The Rockets are on the road at Buffalo (March 21), Northern Illinois (March 28), Western Michigan (March 30), Bowling Green (April 6) and Miami (April 11) during conference play. The MAC Championship will be held April 24-25, 2025 at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts.
