TOLEDO, Ohio – Wright State broke open a tight game in the late innings on Wednesday afternoon to post an 8-0 victory over the Toledo baseball team at Scott Park. The Raiders (15-13) held a 1-0 lead after six innings and took control with four runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
Â
The Rockets (14-15) used four different relievers to open the contest and allowed just a run and four hits over the first six innings.
Â
"It was a one-run game for six innings and a game that anyone could win," Head Coach
Rob Reinstetle said. "They loaded the bases with a walk and two hit batters and then came through in the clutch with some big hits. Those big hits are something that have been eluding us the past few games. We've shown we can be a scary team when we get those and need to get back to our plan."
Â
Toledo registered just four hits against the Raiders with junior
Brayden White leading the way with a pair.
Â
"I was really disappointed with our bats," Reinstetle said. "We did nothing offensively to even make it a game. We have a big road series at Central Michigan this weekend and need to play well and keep separating ourselves from the pack."
Â
The Rockets are currently tied for second place in the Mid-American Conference and will face the Chippewas in a three-game series on Friday-Sunday, April 5-7 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
