TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will close out its non-conference schedule this week in Charleston, SC. Toledo (6-5) will play 2023 Big South Champion Charleston Southern on Tuesday, March 5, and the College of Charleston on Thursday, March 7.
Last Time on the Court
Toledo picked up two home wins vs. Duquesne and Youngstown State to remain undefeated at Twos Athletic Club this season. Senior
Sloane Teske put on a show at the No. 3 court by winning both her matches in come-from-behind performances to clinch both match points against the Dukes and Penguins.
Rockets' Victory Milestones
- The Rockets' last home win vs. Youngstown State (Feb. 25) was the 10th straight at home since January 2023.
- The win over the Penguins was also career No.250 for head coach Tracy Mauntler since taking over in the 2003-04 season.
- Cassie Alcala (89), Sloane Teske (81), and Shalini Tallamraju (76) own the top three spots in program history for career singles wins.
About Charleston Southern
Charleston Southern is the defending Big South Champion and 2023 NCAA Tournament participant. The Buccaneers went 16-8 last season before falling to No.1 seed North Carolina 4-0 in the first round of the postseason tournament. CSU was unanimously picked to repeat the Big South Championship and Noa Boyd was selected Preseason Player of the Year. The Bucs enter this week with a 5-4 record and are coming off a 4-0 loss to #51 Clemson on Sunday afternoon.
About the College of Charleston
The College of Charleston went 16-6 last season before falling to UNCW in the first round of the Coastal Atlantic Conference Championships. C of C is 5-2 heading into this week after picking up back-to-back victories at Presbyterian at Bethune-Cookman over the weekend. The Cougars will play Sacred Heart and Samford before hosting Toledo on Thursday morning.
