Toledo Drops a Hard-Fought Battle at Ball State, 4-3

Rockets close out their 2024 road schedule at Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Toledo men's tennis team started strong in its second meeting with Ball State this year, but ultimately fell 4-3 in Mucnie, Ind. on Friday afternoon. The Rockets won the first matchup with the Cardinals, 4-3 in Toledo on March 15.
Toledo took a 1-0 match lead after winning the doubles point, but Ball State tied the match 1-1 after taking the bottom singles court in straight sets. Senior Pawit Sornlaksup returned to the lineup and took the No. 1 court in two sets, while BSU's Mason Tran tied the match at 2-2 from his No. 4 court victory. Not long after, senior Marko Galic put UT back in the lead, 3-2. with his two-setter over Vince Orlando from the No. 2 court. Jack Lancaster took the No. 5 court to tie the match once again, and Eli Herran clinched match point from a 6-4, 7-6(7) victory vs. Hanamichi Carvajal at the No. 3 court.
Toledo (8-10, 3-3 MAC) will play its last regular-season road match at Western Michigan on Sunday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Mich.
