Pawit Sornlaksup avenges his only MAC loss on the No. 1 court to clinch match point

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior Pawit Sornlaksup got his revenge on the No. 1 singles court and clinched match point in a 4-3 victory for the Toledo men's tennis team at Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon. The Rockets avenged a 4-3 loss to WMU at home on March 17, and have now won their last three matches on the Broncos' home court, including the finals of the 2023 MAC Championships.

Sornlaksup took the court vs. Anton Arzhankin, who ended Sornlaksup's two-year, undefeated (22-0) conference record in the March 17 match. Sornlaksup lost the first set 6-2, fought back to win the second set 6-4, and clinched the tiebreaker 6-2 that broke the 3-3 deadlock and won the match for the Rockets.

After Western Michigan won the doubles point, freshman Poonthong Komolpisut tied the match at 1-1 with his two-set win from the No. 5 court over Matej Kajzer for the second time this season. WMU's Jackson Boone took the No. 3 court in two sets, but freshman Charlie Snow tied the match at 2-2 with his two-setter from the No. 6 flight. Freshman Cole Cozens took Ashton Adsoro in two sets at the No. 4 court, and WMU's Benjamin George tied the match at 3-3 in a two-set game at the No. 2 court, setting up Sornlaksup's decisive win.

Toledo (9-10, 4-3 MAC) will play its final three regular-season matches at home, beginning next week with UIC on Friday, April 5 and Northern Illinois on Sunday, April 7.
