TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team will host its first mid-week game of the season when it faces Youngstown State on Tuesday, March 26 in non-conference action at Scott Park. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.

The Rockets (10-13, 6-3 MAC) won two of three games at home vs. Ball State last weekend to remain tied for second place in the Mid-American Conference standings. The series win over the Cardinals marked the first time since 2016 that Toledo had won a series vs. BSU.

Youngstown State (3-19, 2-4 Horizon) dropped two of three games at home last weekend. The Penguins posted a 3-2 win in Friday's opener before falling by 14-1 and 13-3 margins in a Sunday doubleheader.

Last Time Out
Toledo downed Ball State, 5-2, in last Friday's series opener and followed that with a 7-5 (11 inn.) victory on Saturday. The Rockets nearly rallied to win Sunday's series finale as well but ended up on the short end of a 4-2 decision.

Toledo's bullpen was dominant vs. the Cardinals, posting a 0.55 ERA in 16.1 innings pitched. The Rockets allowed just three runs (one earned) and struck out 16 batters during the three-game series.

Senior Scott Mackiewicz led the Rockets' offense with a .538 batting average (7-for-13) and two doubles. Junior Caden Konczak hit .385 (5-for-13) for UT with a team-high two home runs and five RBIs.

All of Konczak's offense came during UT's 7-5 win in Game Two, including a two-run walk-off homer in the 11th inning.

Rocket Notes
  • Scott Mackiewicz has reached base in 17 straight games, while Trey Wright has a 13-game on-base streak.
  • Owen Jackson and Mackiewicz hold the longest Rockets' current hitting streaks at six games.
  • Garret Pike has the team's longest hitting streak at eight.
  • Camryn Szynski's opponents are hitting just .125 against him, the lowest on the team. Kyle Music ranks second with a .156 opponent batting average.
  • Grant Umberger (2-2) leads the Rockets' starters with a 4.33 ERA and a .190 opponent batting mark in 27.0 innings pitched.

Toledo will host Northern Illinois (8-16, 5-4 MAC) in a three-game series on Thursday-Saturday, March 28-30. The Huskies are alone in fifth place in the conference standings after dropping two of three games to Miami last weekend.
