Rockets Shoot Out the Lights at Western Michigan, 84-69

Toledo connects on a season-high 63 percent from the floor to win its 11th-straight game

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior guard Quinesha Lockett scored 21 points to lead all scorers as the Toledo women's basketball team burned up the nets in an 84-69 victory at Western Michigan on Saturday.

The victory was the 11th in a row for Toledo (23-4, 15-1 MAC), which sits atop the MAC standings with two home games left in the regular season. Western Michigan fell to 12-15, 7-9 MAC.

The Rockets made 34-of-54 (season-high 63.0%) shots from the floor, including a blistering 18-of-24 (75.0%) in the first half. From three-point range, Toledo made 8-of-15 (53.3%). Lockett made 9-of-14 from the field, while backcourt mate Sophia Wiard scored 15 points on 5-of-6, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, to pace 10 Rockets who made the scoring sheet.

"I was really proud of our focus," said Head Coach Tricia Cullop. "We shared the ball well and took good shots. We were very disciplined in that respect. We read the defenses well, made good passes, and made good reads."

Toledo never trailed in the contest, led 22-16 at the end of the first quarter, 45-34 at halftime, and 69-44 after three periods. WMU scored 14 points in the final four minutes of the game to narrow the final margin to 15 points.

The Rockets were bolstered by a large group of Toledo fans who made up approximately three-fourths of the 1,004 fans in Read Field House.

"It felt like Toledo North," said Cullop. "We had so many Toledo fans that made the trip, and some didn't have far to drive because they were related to Sophia Wiard, Cadence Dykstra, and Macey Fegan. It felt like home here because of our fan base. We are so grateful to have a fan base that travels. I think our players didn't want to disappoint them."

Toledo returns home to host Eastern Michigan on Wednesday (7:00 p.m./ESPN+).
