Rockets sit in seventh place after two days of competition in Athens

ATHENS, Ohio – Toledo's Lauren Kilgore finished fifth on the podium in the 200 IM and as a member of the 400 medley relay team to lead the Toledo women's swimming & diving team on Day Two of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships in Athens. The Rockets sit in seventh place with 103 team points after two days of competition.

Five Rockets qualified for Thursday's finals: seniors Jovana Duric, Madison Giglio, Kilgore, and Kennedy Lovell, and sophomore Janne Slegers.

Kilgore shaved 1.77 seconds off her prelims time to finish fifth overall in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:00.87. Last season, Kilgore finished eighth in the same event.

Duric swam a season-best 4:59.07 in the prelims of the 500 freestyle and finished in 15^th place with a touch time of 5:01.21.

Lovell and Slegers had a 12-13 finish in the 50 freestyle. Lovell was clocked at 23.31, and Slegers hit a PR time of 23.32 to qualify before recording a 23.41 time in the finals.

On the one-meter board, Giglio finished 15^th with a score of 215.15.

Toledo's 400 medley relay team of Faith Sill, Kilgore, Leah Evans, and Slegers closed out the night with a season-best time of 3:43.03 for a fifth-place finish.

Four additional Rockets swam personal-best times on Thursday but did not qualify for the final race of their respective events: juniors Lindsey Creek in the 500 freestyle (5:03 86) and Sill in the 200 IM (2:07.57) and freshmen Mackenzie Carter (24.44) and Gracie Pardue (24.76) in the 50 freestyle.

The MAC Championshipa continue Friday morning with prelims at 10:00 a.m., followed by six championship events beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the 100 butterfly.
