Toledo Heads to Athens for MAC Championships

Rockets swimming at Ohio’s Aquatic Center on Wednesday-Saturday
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming & diving team will head to Athens, Ohio on Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 28-Mar. 2 to compete at the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships.
Last Time in the Pool
Toledo defeated Bowling Green (88.0-79.0) while falling to Buffalo (101.0-66.0) in a tri-meet on Feb. 2-3. The Rockets placed first in 10 events over two days, taking home first in all four relay events. Fifth-year senior Lauren Kilgore had first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:06.82), 100 breaststroke (1:04.69), and 100 butterfly (55.68).
Notable Rockets
Senior Madison Giglio and sophomore Annie Bartlett have qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships next month in Lexington, Ky., both in the one-meter and Giglio in the three-meter. Bartlett won the 1M (276.38) vs. Indianapolis to qualify for the postseason, while Giglio won the 3M (299.93) in the same meet and was runner-up in the 1M (271.73) at Marshall to qualify for the Zone C Championships.
Kilgore has eight of the Rockets' 43 individual wins and set a Toledo record with her time in the 200 medley relay (1:39.99)Â and UT pool records in the 200 IM (2:02.62), and the 100 freestyle (50.44).
Freshman Leah Evans has had an outstanding first season with the Rockets, with seven individual and 10 relay first-place finishes. Her name is part of the 200 Medley Relay school record (1:39.99), while her 100 butterfly (54.54) ranks seventh, 100 backstroke (5.82) ranks fourth, and 50 butterfly (55.02) ranks eighth..
Toledo at the MAC Championships
Last season, the Rockets finished seventh overall with five relay and five individual podium finishes. Toledo was led by Kilgore and Kennedy Lovell who each earned a Second-Team All-MAC selection for their four-day performances. Kilgore finished on the podium for the 100 butterfly (7th place), 200 IM (8th place), and 200 butterfly (10th place) and four of the five UT relays. Lovell joined Kilgore in the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays, and individually finished in the top 10 of the 100 (5th place) and 200 freestyle (7th place).
Toledo won the MAC Championships in 2010 and 2012.
Admission and Attendance Guidelines
Admission for the MAC Championships is $40 for an all-session pass or $15 for an individual pass. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online. Doors open to the general public at 5:00 p.m. for the final events on Wednesday-Friday and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The prelims and final races will have a live video stream each day.
