Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rockets Fall to Iowa on Wednesday

First-half Hawkeye runs too much for Rockets

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Toledo women's basketball team fell to Iowa 94-57 in a non-conference matchup at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Wednesday.

The Rockets (1-1) were victimized by several Hawkeye runs throughout the game as Iowa (3-0) pulled away to a large lead in the first half.

Toledo was led on the scoresheet by graduate student Sammi Mikonowicz, who scored 17 points. Freshman Kendall Carruthers added 15, while graduate student Hannah Noveroske added 10 points.

Noveroske also led the Rockets on the glass with seven rebounds and added two blocks. Sophomore Cadence Dykstra dished a team-high five assists, her career high.

"We settled in and got a little bit too comfortable, and couldn't keep up with their pace," said Head Coach Ginny Boggess. "We started to settle on our shots, got fatigued and fouled early. Iowa is a big and physical team, and they're very well-coached. All of this is preparation, all of this is feedback and I'm excited to see how the team responds."
