TOLEDO, Ohio – Fresh off a dominating performance in their home opener, the Toledo Rockets return to the Glass Bowl this Saturday, Sept. 16 (7:00 p.m./ESPN+) to face an explosive San Jose State team that is also coming off an impressive showing.

Toledo (1-1) smothered Texas Southern 71-3 on Saturday at about the same time that Spartans (1-2) was dispatching with Cal Poly, 59-3. Combined, the Rockets and the Spartans clobbered their opponents by a score of 130-6, setting up a potential offensive fireworks display at the Glass Bowl this Saturday.

In Toledo's victory, junior quarterback Dequan Finn completed 16-of-17 passes for 238 yards and three scores, while junior running back Peny Boone rushed for three touchdowns as Toledo scored in all seven of its possessions in the first half.

The 71 points scored were the most by a Rocket team in 72 years and the third-most in a game in school history. Finn, who rested for the entire second half, set the Toledo record for completion percentage (94.1%) as the Rockets put up 50 points in the opening 30 minutes, a school record for a half.

Toledo outgained Texas Southern in total yards, 549-238, was a perfect 9-of-9 in red zone opportunities and converted 10-of-12 on third-down. Toledo's defense was dominant, holding the Tigers to just 238 total yards while sacking TSU quarterbacks five times.

San Jose State (1-2) scored on its first eight possessions over Cal Poly to pick up its first win of the season following a pair of losses to ranked opponents. The Spartans lost at No. 6 USC, 56-28, on Aug. 26, and then fell to No. 18 Oregon State at home, 42-17.
