TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior quarterback Dequan Finn was named to the official watch list for the 2023 Maxwell Award today. The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. It is the second consecutive season that Finn has made the Maxwell watch list.
As a sophomore last season, Finn completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 2,260 yards and 23 touchdowns to lead Toledo to a MAC Championship and a victory in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. He was just as dangerous with his legs, rushing for 631 yards and nine scores.Â
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Nov. 13, 2023, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled Nov. 28, 2023. The winners of the 87th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 7, 2023. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards in March of 2024.
