ATHENS, Ohio – The Toledo softball team had a hard-hitting performance in a doubleheader against Ohio on Wednesday afternoon, picking up an 11-3 victory in Game 1 before falling 10-9 (9 inn.) in the nightcap. Toledo (19-24, 12-13 MAC) recorded a total of 28 hits over two games, 14 in each game.
"I can't say enough great things about this team and how they competed," head coach
Jessica Bracamonte said. "It takes a lot to be able to say you're extremely proud of your team's performance when you don't come out on top, but I am. We played Toledo softball and made a very good Ohio team have to work extremely hard to take the series. We made adjustments from yesterday to today, and executed our game plan to take game one and compete until the very end of game two. Looking forward to a weekend to rest coming up and then getting back to work for our next series against Western."
In Game 1,Â
Lauren Erickson went 3-for-4 and knocked in four runs, including a three-run triple in the first inning. Ohio tied the game at 3-3 with three unearned runs in the bottom of the first, but Toledo dominated the rest of the way.Â
Sophia Knight gave up a homer and two doubles in the opening frame but settled down to hold Ohio scoreless through the final six innings.

Ohio (26-19, 16-7 MAC) played catchup the entirety of the second game, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 9-9 before winning it in the ninth on a walk-off RBI double by Shelby Westler. Knight (8-9) took the loss in relief of starterÂ
Erin Hunt. The victory won the series for the Bobcats, 2-1.

Anna Dixon went 4-for-7 with two doubles, three RBIs and three stolen bases.
Jenna Kroll added five hits and three RBIs. Erickson picked up four hits and five RBIs, and
Leah Munson added four hits as well.

Toledo will play its final home series next weekend vs. Western Michigan on Friday-Saturday, May 5-6 at Scott Park.

Game 1 – Toledo 11, Ohio 3
- Lauren Erickson smacked a bases-clearing triple to get Toledo on the board in the first inning, 3-0.
- Ohio tied the game 3-3 off a sacrifice fly and a two-run home run.
- Aubrey Reed hit an RBI double and crossed home on a throwing error by Ohio to put Toledo back in the lead, 5-3 in the third.
- Riley Mohr and Kendra VanderLugt added to the lead with RBI singles in the fifth, 7-3.
- Maris Barbato hit her first RBI double of the season and came around to score on a sacrifice fly to make it 11-3 in the seventh.
Game 2 – Ohio 10, Toledo 9
- The Rockets plated three in the opening inning, and the Bobcats tied the game in the bottom of the first with a three-run homer.
- Anna Dixon hit a two-run double in the second to put Toledo back in the lead and Jenna Kroll singled her home to make it 6-3.
- Back-to-back RBI doubles for the Bobcats tied the game at 6-6 in the third.
- UT hit three RBI singles to take a 9-6 lead in the sixth.
- Ohio tied the game 9-9 with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Bobcats had a chance to win it but Cici Keidel was thrown out at home trying to score from second base on a single.
- The Rockets threatened with runners at the corners in the top of the ninth, but Kroll grounded out to the first baseman.
- Ohio's Shelby Westler hit a walk-off RBI double to win the game in the bottom of the ninth, 10-9. Â
