TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team hosted in-state foe Wright State at Scott Park on Wednesday and fell to the Raiders by a score of 18-4.
A day after plating 18 runs at Youngstown State, the Rockets (15-17) were on the wrong end of a slugfest vs. Wright State (17-16). The Raiders scored two runs in the first and a run in the second to take an early lead. WSU then plated five runs in the top of the third to blow the game open. Toledo put up a crooked number in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs, but couldn't keep pace with Wright State's offense.
Sophomore Brayden White had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs. Wednesday's performance was the first multi-homer game for the sophomore catcher.
Sophomore Owen Jackson drove in the other Toledo run on a base hit in the fourth inning.
Junior Jeron Williams stole two bases to bring his season total to 27. Entering play Wednesday, 27 stolen bases would put Williams in a tie for second place in the country in that category and one off the national leader (Randy Florida, Alabama State).
Toledo takes a break from Mid-American Conference play this weekend, heading to Samford for a three-game series.
