TOLEDO, Ohio – Former Rocket great Chris Meyers will return to the city where he played his college career after being called up to Triple-A to join the Toledo Mud Hens, the Mud Hens and Detroit Tigers' organization announced on Tuesday.

Now in his fifth pro season after being drafted in 2021, Meyers has reached Triple-A for the first time in his career. He was a 13th-round selection by the Tigers in the 2021 MLB Draft.

"I couldn't be more excited that Chris has been called up to AAA Toledo," said Head Coach Rob Reinstetle, who coached Meyers in his final two seasons in a Rocket uniform. "I'm so proud of him and all of the hard work he has put in year-after-year to get to this point. Chris was a star on my first teams here at Toledo and the first draft pick under our watch. I've enjoyed watching his career and had no doubt that he would find his way back to Toledo where it all started for him."

Meyers was called up from Double-A Erie, where he won back-to-back Eastern League titles with the Seawolves in 2023 and 2024, and helped the team return to the league championship series in 2025. Meyers was named the Eastern League Player of the Month for June 2025 after hitting. 400 with a 1.080 OPS and 22 RBIs.

Meyers has played 463 games in the minor leagues, with 432 career hits, 94 doubles, 62 home runs, 255 RBIs and 261 runs scored. He has a .262 professional average with a .794 OPS. Meyers has played most of his field time in the outfield, with some games at first base.

In his Rocket career, Meyers played in 169 games with a slash line of .309/.432/.532, totaling 186 hits, 37 doubles, four triples, 27 home runs, 121 RBIs and 131 runs scored. Meyers also tallied 112 walks, 22 hit by pitches and 21 stolen bases. He was selected as the 2021 MAC Player of the Year and took two All-American honors after hitting .378 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs that season, becoming the program's first-ever MAC Player of the Year award winner.
