DeKALB, Ill. – The Toledo women's tennis team picked up its second Mid-American Conference win of the season Friday afternoon in a 7-0 sweep vs. Northern Illinois. The win improves the Rockets to 11-3, 2-0 MAC and marked career win No. 235 for head coach Tracy Mauntler since being named to the helm in the 2003 season.

"I am proud of our team and the confidence they played with today," Mauntler said. "We controlled this match from start to finish."

Toledo won the double point with wins on the first two courts but not without a fight. Julia Kuszynski and Sanjana Tallamraju won the first battle, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot, and Cassie Alcala and Laura Morera clinched the team point from the No. 3 court not long after with a 6-2 victory. Sloane Teske and Mariona Perez were tied at 4-4 on the No. 1 court with NIU's Erika Dimitriev/ Nataly Miroslavova Ninova before the match was ruled unfinished to keep their unbeaten doubles streak alive at five matches.

The Rockets did not falter in singles play, winning five of six courts in two sets. Shalini Tallamraju picked up the first win from the No. 4 spot, and was quickly followed by Teske at No.2, before Alcala clinched match point at the No.1 court. Alcala trailed in the beginning of both of her sets but came back to win each set by a 6-2 decision, her first two-set victory since Feb. 10. Perez won wrapped up the No. 3 court just minutes after Alcala's triumph, for her sixth-straight win this season.

Kuszynski won a tight first set followed by a quick second set at the No. 6 court. Sanjana Tallamraju won her first set from the No. 5 court, lost the second set and won the third-set tiebreaker to secure Toledo's fifth sweep of the season.

Toledo will welcome 2022 MAC Champions Ball State to Twos Athletic Club on Sunday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m..
