Rockets Look to Extend Winning Streak vs. Ohio on Saturday

Toledo has won four straight games
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team returns to Savage Arena on Saturday to host Ohio in Mid-American Conference action. The Rockets (16-4, 7-2 MAC) and Bobcats (4-16, 2-7 MAC) will tip off at 2:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
Toledo has won four games in a row coming into Saturday's game and is coming off a 74-60 win at Central Michigan on Wednesday night. Led by the play of Sammi Mikonowicz, Toledo pounced on CMU early in the win, which was the only regular-season meeting between the two teams.
Mikonowicz recorded her second double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to help lead the Rockets to their fourth straight win. Toledo was up by 12 at halftime and led by as many as 26 points in the third quarter.
With the win, the Rockets remain a game back of Ball State (8-1) and Bowling Green (8-1) in the Mid-American Conference standings after both teams also won on Wednesday night.
Toledo ranks in the top three in the MAC in scoring offense (73.7 PPG) and scoring defense (62.6 PPG), the only team in the league to rank among the top three in both categories. Quinesha Lockett leads the team and ranks fourth in the MAC in scoring (17.7 PPG) and Mikonowicz ranks second on the team at 10.4 PPG. Khera Goss and Sophia Wiard are both close behind at 9.1 PPG.
Mikonowicz leads the Rockets in rebounding, averaging 7.6 per game which puts her in sixth place in the MAC. Wiard sits in third place in the conference in assists per game (4.2) while leading the league in assist/turnover ratio (2.71). She ranks eighth in the nation in A/T ratio and has led the MAC each of the last two seasons.

Rocket Notes- UT is 29-9 all-time vs. Ohio when playing at home, though the Bobcats won last year's meeting at Savage Arena. It was the Rockets' only MAC loss during the regular season.
- The Rockets are 28-3 over their last 31 regular season conference games.
- The Rockets lead the MAC and are among the national leaders in average attendance, ranking 25th nationally (3,982). They rank third among mid-major teams, only trailing Gonzaga (4,896) and New Mexico (4,891).
- Toledo is the best free throw shooting team in the league, ranking first in the MAC in free throw percentage (78.2%), free throws made per game (16.0), and free throw attempts (20.5). UT ranks 10th nationally in free throws per game and 16th in free throw percentage.
- As a team, the Rockets rank third in the MAC in both scoring offense (73.7) and scoring defense (62.6), the only team to rank in the top three in both categories. Toledo scored 74 or more points in 13 games and it has allowed 63 or fewer points in 12 games.
- The Rockets rank third in the MAC in scoring margin (+11.1) and have won five games by at least 20 points. UT has won 11 games by double digits.
- Toledo has done a good job defending the three-point line this year, ranking second in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage defense (29.0%). Opponents have shot under 30% from beyond the arc 11 times vs. Toledo this year.
- Quinesha Lockett enters Saturday's game with 1,737 career points, which ranks sixth all-time in and is 137 points away from passing Naama Shafir (2008-13, 1,874 points) to move into fifth place all-time. Kim Knuth (1995-99) is Toledo's all-time leading scorer with 2,509 career points.
- Lockett's 1,737 career points are the most among current MAC players, just ahead of Miami's Peyton Scott (1,723). Lockett ranks No. 35 among active D1 players in career points. They are the only two MAC players in the Top 50 among active career scoring leaders.
- Lockett ranks second in the MAC in scoring in conference play, averaging 21.9 PPG in nine MAC contests. She has five 20-plus point games in MAC play this year.
- Lockett is one of three players to be averaging double figures in scoring in conference play, joining Sammi Mikonowicz (11.4 PPG) and Sophia Wiard (10.0 PPG)
- Wiard has led Toledo in assists or shared the team lead in 12 of 20 games this season. Wiard has led the MAC in assist/turnover ratio each of the last two seasons and once again leads the league this year. She ranks ninth in the country with a 2.71 A/T ratio.
Ohio enters Saturday's game with a record of 4-16 and a 2-7 ledger in Mid-American Conference play. Both of OU's MAC wins have come on the road, including a 65-55 win at Eastern Michigan this past Wednesday. The Bobcats are led by sophomore guard Yaya Felder, who ranks second in the MAC in scoring at 20.5 PPG. Felder has 13 games this season with at least 20 points, including a 40-point effort at Central Michigan on Jan. 25. That's the most points in a game by a MAC player this year and one of just 14 40-point games in Division I this season.
