TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will play its first regular-season game in front of its home fans on Sunday, Nov. 19 when it welcomes Cincinnati to Savage Arena.
The Rockets and Bearcats will tip off at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+. The theme for Sunday's game will be "Gold Rush", and fans are encouraged to wear their gold Toledo gear.
Last Time Out
Toledo visited fellow mid-major standout Gonzaga on Sunday, Nov. 12 and dropped a tough 91-70 decision in Spokane. Four Rockets reached double figures in scoring, with Khera Goss' 15 points serving as the high watermark. Sophia Wiard (13 points) and Quinesha Lockett (11 points) joined her in double digits, as did Emmi Rinat (10 points).
Last Time vs. Cincinnati – Nov. 16, 2022
The Rockets met the Bearcats last season and came away with a 74-71 overtime victory on the road.
Toledo trailed for much of the fourth quarter in that game, but a pair of Sophia Wiard free throws tied the game at 58-58 at the end of regulation. Cincinnati's Mya Jackson drilled a three-pointer with 35 seconds left in overtime to make it a one-score game, 72-71, and on the ensuing Toledo possession UC corralled a rebound and secured a chance to take the game-winning shot. Junior Nan Garcia provided the play of the game, though, by stealing the ball and drawing a foul to completely flip the script with just seconds remaining. Garcia knocked down both free throws to make it 74-71, and Cincinnati never got a shot off on its final possession of the game.
2K Club for Q!
Quinesha Lockett became the third player in program history to reach 2,000 career points at James Madison in the season opener. She joined Mimi Olson (2,144 points) and Kim Knuth (2,509 points) as the lone women's basketball players to reach that benchmark.
Lockett now has 2,016 career points, which ranks sixth among active Division I players and is more than any other active player in the MAC.
Comeback Kids
Toledo opened its 2023-24 season on a thrilling note, overcoming a 21-point second half deficit to win at James Madison, 60-49.
Toledo trailed 36-15 at the 8:45 mark of the third quarter before storming back to win in thrilling fashion. The victory was the Rockets' largest comeback win since overcoming a 25-point deficit to beat Kent State in the 2001 MAC Tournament Championship Game.
Coming back from double-digit deficits is nothing new for the Rockets. They did it three times during MAC play last year, including overcoming a 17-point deficit in the final game of the regular season vs. Bowling Green to clinch an outright MAC title.
About Cincinnati

The Bearcats are operating under first-year head coach Katrina Merriweather and return six of its top seven scorers from last season including double-digit scorers Jillian Hayes (12.8 PPG) and Mya Jackson (11.0 PPG).
