Â
1st Set (25-17 Toledo)
The Rockets started off the match strong by scoring the first three points. A pair of aces from Uluave sandwiched the first kill of the night from Alt to give UT a 3-0 lead. Toledo never trailed in the first set and led by as many as nine points, 17-8. The final score would settle at 25-17 and, for the fourth straight match, the Rockets would take a 1-0 lead over their opponent. Alt and Uluave were both outstanding in the first set, tallying five kills apiece.
Â
2nd Set (25-16, Toledo)
Toledo opened the set with a 6-3 lead, but EMU answered with four straight points to take its first lead of the match. The Rockets and Eagles traded points and battled to a 9-9 stalemate before UT hit the gas and rattled off a 13-3 scoring run to take a commanding 22-12 lead. Eastern Michigan trimmed UT's lead back to single digits, but couldn't overcome its sizable deficit. Senior
Olivia Vance provided the clinching kill to end the set and put Toledo ahead 2-0 in the match.
Â
3rd Set (25-22, Toledo)
The Eagles opened play by scoring six of the first nine points and led for much of the third set. They held a lead as late as 22-20 and appeared to be in a good position to extend the match and keep their hopes of victory alive, but Toledo scored five unanswered points to win and clinch the match. An EMU error started the 5-0 run, then Uluave and Filisi combined to tally three straight kills to put the score at 24-22. An attack error for Eastern Michigan provided the 25
th point and handed the Rockets the victory.
