TOLEDO, Ohio – Jean Ann Harrison, a member of the women's volleyball team from 1992-95, has passed away, her family announced this week.
Harrison is among the program career leaders for block solos (3rd/89), attacking percentage (6th/0.267), block assists (10th/221) and total blocks (10th/310). She holds the single-season record for blocks per set, averaging 1.16 blocks/set during the 1995 campaign.Â
Harrison also holds two single-season records for block solos, sitting in fourth with 34 solo blocks in 1995 and is tied for seventh with 31 solo blocks in 1994. Her 118 block assists in 1995 rank sixth in program history.
Off the court, Harrison was instrumental in helping head coach Brian Wright bring alumni together to come back and visit Savage Arena and support the volleyball program all while supporting women's health and cancer awareness.
"I am so grateful that I got to meet Jean Ann," said Wright. "She attended a volleyball match at Savage Arena, got to sign the alumni wall in our locker room and made it to multiple MAC Tournament matches all last season. Her love, care and passion will continue and we will be sure to make her proud and keep her legacy alive."
The Toledo volleyball program will be renaming its annual Alumni Day to the Jean Ann Harrison Toledo Volleyball Alumni and Women's Health & Cancer Awareness Day, in honor of her hard work to bring together all former Rocket volleyball players around an incredible cause.
