TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's tennis head coach Tracy Mauntler announced the addition of Ignacio Guevel as a graduate assistant coach for the 2022-23 season on Tuesday.
"This position is so important because he will be spending so much time with our student-athletes," Mauntler said. "We've spent so much time building our positive team culture, that finding the right fit can be difficult. It took him less than a day to fit right in with our team. He has already shown that he is invested in our program and he's eager to help develop our players both on and off the court. He has great energy and will be an awesome addition to our program."
Guevel was a member of Norfolk State University's men's tennis team from 2019-21 and compiled a singles record of 27-20 mostly from the No. 6 court, and a doubles record of 21-30. He earned Second-Team All-MEAC honors and MEAC All-Tournament Team honors in 2021, posting an 8-4 singles record including a 7-0 mark on the No. 5 court. Gueval was a seven-time NSU Athletic Director's Honor Roll selection and a three-time MEAC Tennis All-Academic team selection.
Guevel's previous coaching experience includes the Larchmont Yacht Club and Rye Raquet Club, both in New York.Â
A Santiago del Estero, Argentina native, Guevel received a bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in accounting from Norfolk State in 2021.
