TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo sophomore quarterback Dequan Finn was named to the official watch list for the 2022 Maxwell Award today. The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937.
As a redshirt freshman last season, Finn took over the starting quarterback duties at mid-season and threw for 2,067 yards and 18 touchdowns with just two interceptions. He also ran for 505 yards and nine TDs.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Nov. 1, 2022, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled Nov. 22, 2022. The winners of the 86th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 8, 2022. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards live from Atlantic City, NJ on March 10, 2023.
