TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo and Ball State continued their Mid-American Conference baseball series with a doubleheader at Scott Park on Saturday. The Rockets dropped the first game, 7-3, before falling in the second game by a score of 10-2.
Both games saw Ball State take an early lead it would not relinquish. Game one was a one-run ballgame heading into the final inning, until a three-run BSU home run in the top of the seventh put the game out of reach for UT. The Rockets fell behind 6-0 in game two and weren't able to work their way back.
Sophomore
Jeron Williams had a great day at the plate in game one, going 4-for-4 while scoring two of Toledo's three runs and driving in the other. Senior
John Servello went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double hitting second in the order. Junior
Mason Sykes tallied the other RBI in game one for the Rockets.
Servello collected two hits in game two as well, once again going 2-for-4 at the plate. Sophomore

Caden Konczak each drove in a run. Servello also stole a base in each game, bringing his season total to 12.
Toledo and Ball State will wrap up their series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
How it Happened (Game 1)
- Ball State's Adam Christianson opened the scoring with a leadoff home run in the top of the second to give his team a 1-0 lead.
- The Cardinals tacked on two more runs in the top of the third to make it 3-0.
- With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Sykes laced a single into left field to bring home a run and put UT within two, 3-1.
- Ball State got that run back in the top of the fourth with a two-out, RBI single to put the score at 4-1.
- Toledo pulled within a run, 4-3, with a two-run fourth inning. Williams brought home senior Zach Schwartzenberger with a base hit up the middle and he later scored on Servello's single down the line in right field. Both UT runs came with two outs.
- The Cardinals' Ryan Peltier provided the final blow with a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to put the score at 7-3, which would hold as the final.
How it Happened (Game 2)
- For the second time in as many games, Ball State used a leadoff home run in the top of the second to take an early lead, with Zach Cole providing the opening blast in game two.
- The Cardinals added another run in the top of the third to make it 2-0 and used a four-run top of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-0.
- The Rockets scored both of their runs in the bottom of the seventh. Mackiewicz doubled into the gap in right-center field to bring home freshman Garret Pike, then he later scored on Konczak's two-out single to put the score at 6-2.
- The Cardinals added a run in the eighth and three in the ninth to hit double digits for the game, bringing about the final score of 10-2.
