Toledo Heads to Buffalo, Welcomes Western Michigan this Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will split time this weekend between Buffalo, NY and Toledo for its next two scheduled Mid-American Conference matches. The Rockets will visit Buffalo on Friday before returning home to welcome Western Michigan on Sunday. Both matches are schedule for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
Toledo (12-3, 2-1 MAC) has won its last 11 home matches dating back to April 9, 2021.
Last Time on the Court
The Rockets split their conference schedule last weekend, defeating Northern Illinois (6-1) at home on Friday, then falling to Ball State (1-6) on Sunday in Muncie, Ind. Sophomore Cassie Alcala was a combined 4-0 from the top singles and doubles courts for the Rockets. Alcala has won her last six singles matches and is 3-0 against conference opponents. Alcala and sophomore Julia Kuszynski have won their last three dual matches and are 6-1 together from the top court.
About Buffalo
Buffalo (12-5, 1-2 MAC) started out its conference weekend with a 4-3 setback to Ball State on March 25, before picking up its first conference win over Northern Illinois on March 27, 7-0. Friday's match between Buffalo and Toledo will be the first of two meetings this season, the second being in Toledo on April 22 just prior to the conference tournament.
About Western Michigan
Western Michigan (9-7, 1-2 MAC) had a split showing vs. Eastern Michigan and Miami over the weekend. The Broncos picked up their first conference win in a 4-3 match over the Eagles on Friday, but were then defeated 5-2 by the Redhawks on Sunday. Western Michigan will host Bowling Green on Friday before heading down to Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
