Toledo Opens Conference Play at Eastern Michigan on Sunday

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team will open Mid-American Conference play on Sunday, March 20 vs. Eastern Michigan. The Rockets and Eagles will play at 1:00 p.m. in The Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Toledo (10-3) was picked first to finish atop the Mid-American Conference along with co-favorite Ball State in the preseason Coaches Poll on Monday.
Last Time Out
The Rockets dropped their last non-conference match to Cal. State Fullerton, 5-2, on March 8. Sophomores Cassie Alcala and Julia Kuszynski secured the two points for the Rockets from singles wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts respectively. Alcala and Kuszynski have also each won their last three singles matches, and are 3-1 as doubles partners on the No. 1 court.
About Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan (9-9) split its last two matches in Orlando, Fla. on March 6. EMU started out strong vs. Oakland in doubles competition, but the Grizzlies won five of the singles courts to take the match 5-2. Following that match, the Eagles swept the doubles courts vs. St. Petersburg College and won three singles court for the 4-3 match win. Senior Grace Whitney has won her last six matches on the Eagles' No. 5 court.
