YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Toledo women's tennis team opened Mid-American Conference play with a win over Eastern Michigan Sunday afternoon in Ypsilanti. The Rockets improved to 11-3 overall and 1-0 in MAC play with the victory.

Toledo secured the doubles point after a 6-4 win by Patricia Panta and Laura Morera on the No. 3 court and a 6-4 clinching win from Cassie Alcala and Julia Kuszynski on the No. 1 court.

Junior Sloane Teske and Julia Kuszynski kept the Rockets' momentum rolling in singles competition with consecutive victories on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Senior Patricia Panta secured the match for the Rockets with a sweep on the No. 5 court. EMU's two points came from the No. 4 and No. 6 courts in three-set matches.

Alcala and Kuszynski have each won their last four matches for the Rockets.

Toledo will welcome Northern Illinois for its first MAC home match of the 2022 season on Friday, March 25. The Rockets and Huskies will take the court at 2:00 p.m. at Twos Athletic Club.
