TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo men's tennis continued its hot streak, winning its fourth-straight match in a 5-2 victory over IUPUI at Shadow Valley Tennis Club Friday afternoon.
The Rockets started the day on a high note, winning the doubles point from victories on the No.1 court by
Marko Galic and
Pawit Sornlaksup and No. 3 court by
Luka Jankovic and
Adam Kovac.
Cole Shoults and
Krzysztof Wetoszka were down 5-2 on the No.2 court before the match was ruled unfinished.
In singles competition, Sornlaksup, Galic and Kovac won over their IUPUI opponent in two sets. Wetoszka and Shoults pushed their sets to three-set tiebreakers. Wetoszka came out victorious (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) non the No. 3 court while Shoults fell is a close third set (4-6, 6-1, 5-7) on the No. 4 court.
"We're developing into a pretty solid and tough team!" head coach
Al Wermer said. "We have a lot of very reliable players in positions to win - yet we don't have to rely on the same guy each day."
Toledo (5-4) will be back on the court on Sunday when it welcomes Dayton to Shadow Valley Tennis Club. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
